Meet Our Team of Artists & Artisans

  • Kate Antrobus Scent Creator at Shop for the Senses, Artisan Concept Shop, The Lake District UK

    Kate Antrobus

Co-Owner, Candle Maker & Perfumer, Cockermouth

I started my creative career as a lingerie and swimwear specialist in Nottingham, after 15 years of commercial design I decided I wanted to cut back from the corporate world. At the same time the mountains were calling me home, my inquisitive brain and love for natural scent began at the kitchen table, some years later after lots of testing Bous was born.

A creative community is very important to me and after moving back to Cumbria I was reminded about all the incredible talent the county has, getting together with Victoria we soon learnt our values and passion aligned and Shop for the Senses began. We are here to support and amplify some of Cumbria’s best Artists and Artisans. Often hidden away in their rural studios they are often missed. But we have set out to share our secret network and their beautiful wares of which are made to be treasured.

  • Artist at Shop for the Senses, Artisan Concept Shop, The Lake District UK

    Victoria

    Co-Owner + Artist, Carlisle

Victoria, the artist behind Feather & Wild, has been passionately creating art since her early years. Established in 2016, Feather & Wild is a testament to Victoria's lifelong dedication to artistic expression.

Growing up in the captivating surroundings of the Lake District, Victoria found her creative catalyst in the mesmerizing beauty of nature. The mountains, trees, and abundant wilderness that surrounded her served as a constant inspiration, fueling her desire to translate her experiences onto paper and canvas.

While a simple pen sketch can evoke memories and emotions, it is through the act of applying paint to canvas that Victoria's heart truly finds it’s voice. Her painting practice involves a skillful interplay of brushes, palette knives, and even her own hands, allowing her to express the deep emotions that reside within her. The resulting tactile pieces, created with a limited selection of warm-toned hues, have the power to evoke ethereal atmospheres, captivating viewers and inviting them into a world of emotion.

  • Liz Jones Artist and Printmaker at Shop for the Senses, Artisan Concept Shop, The Lake District UK

    Liz Jones

    Artist and Printmaker, Carlisle

Liz’s home and her surroundings provide her with a rich source of inspiration; glimpsing birds and deer in the woods or watching her chickens forage busily in the garden. Each piece is hand screen or lino printed using a method of relief printing. This forms the basis of all her fabric designs which are transformed into beautiful homewares, bringing a little bit of nature into your home.

  • Caroline Thorburn, Potter at Shop for the Senses, Artisan Concept Shop, The Lake District UK

    Caroline Thorburn

    Potter- Carlisle

Trading the Welsh/Shropshire hills for Cumbrian ones in 2001, Cazz came to study her Degree and then Masters, both in Contemporary Applied Arts and never left! Cazz is inspired by being ‘in-and-out’ of the garden. Her work is designed to be fun and functional, with a quirky style. Colour is very important to her. And pattern. All of the colour and pattern in fact. A Maximalist. Cazz is also a Beekeeper! Obsessed with these little beasties she is! They are currently informing and inspiring the surface decoration for her work along with other insects, flora and fauna.

She handmakes ranges of work for inside the home and outside in the garden, combining a range of materials, techniques and processes to create the pieces. Porcelain Wellie Boots and Watering Cans are her signature pieces. Cazz predominantly slip-casts with porcelain and hand-builds with Stoneware clays. Underglaze is heavily used by many methods; screen print, stamping, layering, texture, resist...experimenting all of the time so that each piece is slightly different from the next. Decal transfers, 24 karat gold lustre, mark-making and bubble-glazing are lovingly combined to finish her pieces.

  • A photo of Charlotte Curran, artist at Shop for the Senses, Artisan Concept Shop, The Lake District UK

    Charlotte Gurran

    Artist- Penrith

Creating paintings through a nature-derived process with a passion for environmental wellbeing. Each artwork begins outdoors: often up a mountain, or lake-side. Movements of birds’ flight are recorded in the form of lines and once back in the studio carefully transcribed onto the canvas. Charlotte’s paintings consist entirely of captured moments from The Lake District. New data is gathered for each painting, with no line ever repeated. Upon completion, the artwork is taken back outdoors, encompassing the origin of Charlotte’s artistic practice: appreciation of our natural landscape.
